PubMedID- 21450985 In infants born after cesarean without prior labor (n = 66), estimated fetal weight less than the fifth percentile, suspect fetal heart rate, compromised placental perfusion, and chorioamnionitis were each associated with significantly elevated cord copeptin.
PubMedID- 24066085 We have recently reported that infants born very preterm exposed prenatally to chorioamnionitis with funisitis (inflammation of the umbilical cord) had a different pattern of cortisol levels at 18 months corrected age, compared to infants exposed to chorioamnionitis alone or no prenatal infection, suggesting that presence of a fetal inflammatory response may alter programming of the hpa axis.
